History

AGAMA Energy (Pty) Ltd was founded in October 2000 by Glynn Morris and Barry Morris as an outcome of over fifteen years of experience since 1985 in research and consultancy in more sustainable energy service provision in Southern Africa. This experience was gained at the Energy Research Institute (ERI), the Energy for Development Research Centre (EDRC) at the University of Cape Town and later in Energy & Development Group (www.edg.co.za). Greg Austin joined AGAMA Energy in 2003 bringing new skills and years of experience in biogas technology and Mike Munnik joined the firm in 2006 on the basis of many years of experience in the corporate energy sector in South Africa.

GreenX Energy (Pty) Ltd was founded in 2004 by Glynn Morris and Grove Steyn on the basis of the experience in AGAMA Energy through the implementation of the Green Power for the WSSD project in 2002 and became it a wholly-owned subsidiary of AGAMA Energy in 2006.

AGAMA Biogas (Pty) Ltd was registered in 2008 as a consolidation of the experience since 1990 in anearobic biogas digestion, wastewater treatment and energy supply which Greg Austin had acquired in a close corporation called Biogas Technology Africa cc.
