Carbon projects that AGAMA Energy has undertaken include:
  • Development of a PIN & PDD for Nollen Group Biomass to Electricity project (2010) – AGAMA Energy was appointed to register a 3 MW electricity project from invasive alien plants in the Eastern Cape.
  •
  • Carbon reductions in Low-income Households at Cosmo City (2010) – AGAMA Energy provided specialist services to Unlimited Energy and PDG for the City of Johannesburg to assess the affect of energy efficiency measures in subsidy houses in Cosmo City. This involved monitoring temperatures, electricity use, water use and water temperatures in a sample of houses before and after the efficiency interventions (ceilings, SWHs, CFLs, etc), in order to ascertain the carbon benefits of the proposed interventions.
  •
  • Preparation of PIN & PDD for SWH CDM in NMBM (2009) – AGAMA Energy prepared a PIN and PDD for a solar water heating CDM project in Nelson Mandela Bay Metropole for CEF Carbon.
  •
  • Programmatic methodology for thermal efficiency in subsidy and gap housing (2009) – AGAMA Energy was contracted by SSN to develop a calibrated predictive tool for determining thermal performance of low-income and gap housing in South Africa as input to a CDM methodology submission. This required monitoring of 30 houses in three different locations, and energy modelling, monitoring and methodology design inputs for the methodology.
  •
  • F-CDM-NM0263: Method for Solar Water Heaters for hot water applications (2008) – AGAMA Energy provided technical services as a sub-consultant to SouthSouthNorth for the development of a CDM methodology for solar water heating.
  •
  • Emissions inventory for the Design Indaba (2008) – AGAMA Energy completed a Greenhouse Gas emissions inventory (in terms of the WRI GHG Protocol) for Interactive Africa of the Design Indaba Conference held in the Cape Town Convention Centre (attended by 1500 delegates).  The purpose of the inventory was to identify the specific causes of emissions and to manage and offset these.
  •
  • Green Building Council of South Africa (2008) - AGAMA Energy appointed to undertake a carbon emissions inventory for GBCSA Convention & Exbibition, CTICC, Cape Town.
  •
  • Premier Pork Producers  (2008) - AGAMA Energy appointed to assess the impact of carbon finance on the viability of on-farm biogas systems for pig farmers.
  •
  • Programmatic methodology for thermal efficiency in housing (2008) - AGAMA Energy is appointed with SouthSouthNorth to provide specialist energy modelling, monitoring and methodology design inputs for the development and registration of a programmatic CDM methodology and associated technical tools for more efficient low-income housing.
  •
  • CDM project validation for Humphries Swine Manure Biogas Project (2007) – AGAMA Energy provided expert biogas technical services as a sub-consultant to Price Waterhouse Coopers for submission of a PDD.
  •
  • Design Indaba (2007) - AGAMA Energy appointed to undertake a carbon emissions inventory for Design Indaba held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
  •
  • WC Kuyasa Pilot CDM Project: Business Plan Development (2006) - AGAMA Energy appointed by the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism as consultants for the development of a business plan for the installation of solar water heaters, ceilings and energy efficient lights on 2309 houses in Kuyasa, Khayelitsha, Cape Town, South Africa.
  •
  • Mitchell’s Plain medium-income thermal and solar water heating performance modeling (2006)  – A privately-funded project in Mitchells Plain to undertake a study to model the improved thermal performance and the impacts of solar water heating for 380 houses, in a development called Westgate, as part of a proposed Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project.
  •
  • Development and registration of a CDM methodology for energy interventions in low-income houses (2004)  – Undertaken in 2003/4 in association with SouthSouthNorth, this DGIS-funded project in Kuyasa, Khayelitsha addressed the carbon benefits of installing a suite of more sustainable energy interventions in 2309 existing low-income houses.  The project developed a UNFCC CDM methodology  for quantifying and monitoring the emissions associated with the proposed interventions.  AGAMA Energy also provided specialist energy modelling, monitoring and methodology design inputs for the PDD and registration of the Kuyasa Project.
