Green Building projects that AGAMA Energy has undertaken include
  • Energy modelling for the Khayelitsha Business District: Phase 2 (2010) – AGAMA Energy was appointed on the project team to undertake energy modelling for the design of Phase 2 of the Khayelitsha Business District.  The scope of the appointment included an assessment of the context for energy services, the prospects for security of supply, the costs and benefits of renewable energy options and specific technical inputs on building guidelines and biogas systems.

  • Sustainability services for the new Desmond Tutu Peace Centre development (2009) – AGAMA Energy was appointed to lead the professional design team in the application of the Green Star Office Design rating tool; undertaking a preliminary assessment of the project; and making recommendations as to how the rating can be improved.  The project is aiming at a 5 Green Star rating.

  • Sustainability services for the OMIG Portside development (2009) – this 44-story building will be the highest building in the Cape Town CBD.  AGAMA Energy is guiding the professional team in the application of the Green Star Office Design rating tool as well as undertaking a preliminary assessment of the project and making recommendations as to how the rating can be improved.

  • Feasibility stage design of the Cape Town Convention Centre: Phase 2 (2008) – AGAMA Energy was appointed as the sustainability consultants on this R650 million project to guide and deliver the feasibility-stage plans for the building as a 6 Green Star building in terms of the Green Star rating tool developed by the Green Building Council of SA.

  • Portside development for OMIPG (2008) - AGAMA Energy has been appointed as the sustainability consultant on this project, a building comprising 44 levels (100 000m2 including parking) in the Cape Town CBD. Our involvement covers an initial preassessment of the existing design in terms of the Green Star rating system, identification of possible additional credits that could be considered, and guidance and support in the preparation of documentation required for submission to the GBCSA for assessment and rating.

  • Cape Town Convention Centre: Phase 2 (Concept design stage) (2007/8) - AGAMA Energy (in association with Arup) was appointed as the sustainability consultant on this major R1.4 bn project to guide and co-ordinate the concept and feasibility stage development plans for the building in terms of the Green Star rating system. The project is aiming at a 6 Green Star rating (“world leadership”).

  • Philippi Business Park (2006) – AGAMA Energy was appointed to develop a sustainable energy and waste management plan for Philippi Business Park Sustainable Neighbourhood.

  • Southern African Wildlife College (1998) - AGAMA Energy provided consultancy services for WWF-SA on a R30 million KfW-funded greenfields development of a Wildlife College in the Kruger National Park. The appointment included strategic energy planning and inputs and normal engineering services for the design and supervision of solar water heating and solar PV systems for the SAWC.
